Thank you for volunteering for the Grand Blue Mile. With the support of more than 1,000 volunteers during Relays week we are able to host the Midwest's premier one mile event and the best track and field meet in the world.

Drake Relays - Thursday, April 25, 2024
Athlete Timing Chip Collectors
Assist in collecting the timing chips from athletes at the conclusion of the race. In addition collect the batons from the relays team after the conclusion of the race.
Awards Tent
Monitoring results and processing awards for collegiate and high school teams.
Field Assistant
Assist with field event operations for the following events: Discus, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put and an Elite Invitational Field Event
Assist with the High School Discus event.
Assist with the High School Shot Put event.
Assist with the High School High Jump event.
Assist with an Elite Invitational Field Event.
Assist with the High School Long Jump event.
Medallion Club Assistant
Serve as host/hostess. The Medallion Club tent is the premier hospitality location for financial supporters of the Drake Relays, as well as many of the elite athletes in competition. Host/hostessess serve as a liaison between Drake athletics, our catering partners, and our esteemed guests during competition.
Umpire Runner
Assist chief umpire with the collection of running violations. This is an active position and requires brisk walking/running.
Volunteer Tent
Assist with checking in Drake Relays Volunteers, handing out credentials, and provide customer service/ answer general questions about the Drake Relays as needed.
Drake Relays - Friday, April 26, 2024
Athlete Post-Race Services
Monitor athletes and baskets at the post-race athlete services tent to ensure smooth and efficient transitions after the race.
Athlete Timing Chip Collectors
Assist in collecting the timing chips from athletes at the conclusion of the race. In addition collect the batons from the relays team after the conclusion of the race.
Awards Tent
Monitoring results and processing awards for collegiate and high school teams.
Basket Carrier
Ensure delivery of athlete's belongings from starting line to finish area at NE corner of Drake Stadium. This position is on the track and entails walking.
Blocks Crew
Assist with set-up of blocks on the track and hold for athletes competing in events.
Coaches Hospitality
Assist in serving food and drinks during meal hours in the coach's tent; ensure the tent area remains clean throughout shifts; provide an inviting atmosphere for coaches.
Field Assistant
Assist with field event operations for one of the following events: discus, high jump, long jump, pole vault, shot put, triple jump.
Assist with the Discus events.
Assist with the Long Jump events.
Assist with the Shot Put events on Friday.
Assist with the Triple Jump events.
Assist with the High Jump events during Friday competition.
Assist with the Pole Vault events.
Assist with the Triple Jump events.
Assist with the Discus events.
Assist with the Shot Put events.
Assist with the Discus events.
Assist with the Long Jump events.
Assist with the University/College Women Invite Pole Vault event.

Assist with the University/College Women Invite Pole Vault event.

Hurdles Crew
Assist with hurdle set-up on track. *Requires lifting and carrying hurdles various distances*

Hurdles placed and removed during the following events:

  • 8:25 AM - 9:00 AM 100mH & 110mH
  • 10:25 AM - 10:40 AM 100mH & 110mH
  • 12:15 PM - 12:50 PM 100mH & 110mH
  • 2:05 PM - 2:35 PM 400mH
Medallion Club Assistant
