What is included in my registration?
All participants receive a premium gender specific apparel item, commemorative race medal, professional race timing, free race day photography, a free ticket to the Drake Relays Distance Carnival on Thursday, April 27 and post-race refreshments and support from vendors after your run.
What time does the race start?
The Drake Road Race Half Marathon and 10K start at 7:30 followed by the 5K at 7:45.
Where is the start line?
Outside Drake Stadium on Forest Avenue by the Bulldog Plaza.
Where is the finish line?
Inside Drake Stadium on the iconic Blue Oval.
Where can I park?
Parking is available in campus parking Lot 1 on the corner of Forest and 25th. Avoid no parking signs on streets around campus that are part of the course.
How long is the half marathon course open?
The route is open for 3 hours at a 14:00 per mile pace limit.
Can I walk the 5k course?
Since the 5k course shares the same route as the half marathon, it provides the opportunities for walkers to participate in the Drake Road Races as well.
Are there aid stations and restrooms available?
Restroom access is available before the start of the race inside Drake Stadium. There are aid stations along each route that will have water available. Portalet toilets will be near aid stations.
When is packet pick-up?
The Relays Health & Fitness Expo hosted by Catch Des Moines will serve as packet pick-up on Saturday, April 22 at the Knapp Center. Parking is available in campus parking Lot 1 on the corner of Forest and 25th.
Can someone else pick up my bib and race items?
Yes! You are able to have a friend or family member pick up your bib and race items or you can pick up multiple participants items. Please have their confirmation QR Code available at pick up. Participants will receive their confirmation QR Code prior to the Health & Fitness Expo.
Do all participants get a shirt and medal?
All registered participants will get a premium apparel item at packet pick-up. Every finisher in the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K will receive a medal after crossing the finish line.
What COVID-19 protocols will be in place for the in-person event?
The Drake Road Races and Drake University monitors all state and local COVID-19 mandates and recommendations from the CDC, IDPH, and the City of Des Moines.
What is the Bulldog Double?
Athletes who complete both the Drake Road Races and the Grand Blue Mile receive an additional commemorative medal after they finish the Grand Blue Mile later in the week.
Can I change my registration to a different distance?
Athletes may change their registration up until April 7 at 11:59 PM. Any registration changes after that date will not be allowed.

VIRTUAL DRAKE ROAD RACES
What are the Virtual Drake Road Races?
The virtual Drake Road Races give everyone the opportunity to experience one of Iowa's oldest road races! Our virtual run consists of a 5k, 10k and Half Marathon option, just like our in-person races. Run or walk your favorite distance wherever you want. We will ship the race packet right to you!
What items are included with the Virtual Drake Road Races?
All participants will receive a Drake Road Races branded apparel item specific to your desired size, a one-of-a-kind finisher's medal and a race bib. Keep watching our newsletters and social media to be the first to see the reveal of the designs for the swag and medal! All participants will also have the opportunity to win prizes from sponsors during the event.
Where can I run/walk?
Anywhere and everywhere! This is your virtual run, and we want you to complete it wherever you want. You can run on sidewalks, trails, treadmill – make this your own run. Want to run with a stroller or your pet? Do it! We just ask that you use #MyDrakeRelays and tag @DrakeRelays and @DrakeRoadRaces so we can see your runs! Do I need to submit results to get a medal?
Your finisher medal will be included in your packet, so you can wear it with pride when you're ready! Stay tuned for more information on how to upload, check out the leaderboard, and download a finisher's certificate.
How do I track my distance and time?
For the Virtual Race, we accept finish times on the honor system, but the most accurate tracking can be done with a GPS tracking app.
Can I still earn the Bulldog Double medal?
Yes, participants who register for and complete the Drake Road Races and Grand Blue will receive an exclusive Bulldog Double medal in addition to the apparel and medal from the Drake Road Races. Event details for the 2023 Grand Blue Mile will be available at a later date.
How do I submit my results online?
1. When the race timeline opens, a link will be provided to submit your results.
2. Search and select the name you want to submit results for
